Chapter two- The Hunting Games

Ashkit poked his head out of the soft bramble in the nusery, and gazed up at the light beaming down upon him. He stood up, shaking scraps of tiny bracken off of his gray pelt, and yawned slightly. Sundaze had made him and Blazekit go to bed early because of what happened eailer. He started to walk away from the nest he was asleep in, and he caught the sight of a dark brown tabby pelt. He smiled, knowing it was Lilykit. She was the only one who was nice to him and Blazekit, but she was always sweet. He padded over, about to greet her, but his sister ran infront of him, knocking him backwards a little. "Hi!" She purred smiling. Ashkit waved with his tail, and gazed from the side of Blazekit. Lilykit had left, to go outside with her sister, Seedkit. Suddenly Blazekit blocked his sight again looking into his eyes, "What'cha looking at?"
"N-Nothing"
"Alright, how about we go outside? Mama's out there already, she's probably waiting for us"
Ashkit nodded, and started to follow his sister out. He let out another soft yawn, and swished his tail around. Blazekit shot outside in a flash, her orange pelt glistening in the evening sun. Ashkit ran after her, barely being able to catch her. She was really fast, faster than him, and it was kinda true she was a lot stronger than him. But Ashkit had something she didn't, great pouncing. He was a really good jumper, and the Clan knew he'd make one heck of a hunter. Soon, Ashkit saw his mother's ginger pelt, and raced over beside Blazekit, who was already waiting for him. He gazed up at his mother, looking into her beautiful yellow eyes. Even though she was strict, she was the best mother ever. Ashkit knew she was so strict his too keep them safe, but sometimes she CAN take it too far.

"You two better not go so far this time, I don't want to have to send a warrior after you kits" Sundaze meowed in a soft tone, and she gave her kits licks on the head, and purred, "Now go on a play"
"Thank you mama!" Blazekit purred before running off into the grass. Ashkit padded after her, catching the sight of Lilykit again. He blinked looking as Blazekit was chasing after a butterfly, and he slipped away to the dark brown she-kit. He smiled, walking up beside her, "Hi Lilykit"
Lilykit jumped back, "Ashkit! You nearly scared me out of my fur" She soon padded back to him, purring, "But nice to see you, Sundaze finally let you out of the nursery?"
"Y-Yeah.." He mewed back, a bit embarressed, and he blushed slightly. He soon shaked his head, and sat down, "So what are you and Seedkit doing?"
"Were practing our fighting, claws sheathed."
"Fighting? Oh, that's right, you'll be apprentices any day now"
"Yep! I can't wait! Bramblestar already told us who our mentors will be. Mine's Ivypool, and Seedkit's Brackenfur."
Ashkit nodded, he knew who he wanted his mentor to be. Cloudtail. He was so cool! He heard stories about him from Cloudtail's mate, Brightheart, who was also Dewkit's, Snowkit's, and Amberkit's mother. Cloudtail was brave, bold, and everything you could want for a mentor! Ashkit haden't officialy met him yet, but wants too really soon! As his eyes sparkled, he relized Lilykit had padded away back to her sister. Ashkit lowered his ears, knowing next time he shouldn't get so lost in his thoughts.

Ashkit pranced back to Blazekit, who was batting at a leaf. He stood over her, "Hey"
"Ashkit!" She sat up, "Where did you go?"
"Oh, just to say hi to Lilykit"
Blazekit gave Ashkit a look, and nudged beside him, "You like her don't you."
He blushed, "W-Were just friends!"
"Yeah, friends. Anyways, wanna play a game with me?" She purred.
"Sure, what game?"
"Okay, so it's a hunting game! We've got to see who's the best hunter. Who ever pounces the best, and catches the pray, wins!"
Ashkit knew he would likely win. Noteing cause he was such a good jumper, but didn't want to be a show-off about it. They would make the best hunter win!

Ashkit backed up, as it was his turn to go first. He huched his shoulders, and glared at a dandelion. It blew in the easy wind, and he narrowed his eyes, trying to detect at what angle would be best to jump at. He waited for a couple moments, pushing his hind legs up, then pounced. He landed right on the flower, making white flecks fly into the air, and one on his nose. He sneezed, and shoved it off. He looked back at Blazekit who was staring with awe.
"That was amazing!" She ran forward, "I didn't know you were this good!"
"Th-Thanks sis" He stepped away, "Your turn."
Blazekit hesatated, but backed up. She crouched down, flicking her tail side to side, and narrowed her eyes. She then leaped forward, barely missing a leaf by a twig-length. She growled, "Mouse-dung!"
"What are you two doing?"
Ashkit looked up at a orange tabby tom, and blinked. He hasn't seen this cat before, but maybe might know who he is. Lionblaze, Jayfeather's brother. He was some kind of "legend" in the Clan, and that's probably why Ashkit knew of him. Blazekit looked up, "Oh! Hi! Were playing a game"
"Oh, well, my name's Lionblaze, by the way"
"I'm Blazekit, and this is my brother Ashkit"
Ashkit purred closing his eyes happily. It was cool that they were meeting the stongest warrior in the Clan, maybe he was having second thoughts on who his mentor should be.
"You two just be careful" Lionblaze meowed cutting Ashkit's thinking off, "I heard that you got in trouble yesterday"
"Y-Yeah" Ashkit mewed quietly.
"It's fine, me and my brother...And my sister.." There was a sad tone in his voice, "Used to be like you two, always getting in trouble! But it was worth it" He winked, before slipping off to the camp exit, and padded out.

"Well, guess who one the game!" Blazekit meowed happily pinning Ashkit down, "You did"
Ashkit giggled, "Guess I did" He caught her off gaurd pushing her off, and leaped onto her back. She shoved him off pawing his cheek, and he play-bit her ear. They laughed, and soon started to chase eachother.
